Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i Warns Kenyans Against Being Duped By Imposter

Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has warned the public against an imposter purporting to be the Head of ICT at the Ministry and is claiming to offer jobs at a fee.

In a statement to the press, Communications Officer Kennedy Buhere stated that the individual, Perminus Wainaina, had not and was not at any time employed by the ministry.

Buhere added that the Ministry did not have any programme which necessitated the recruitment of temporary staff.

He reiterated that any ad that had been circulated by the said individual was a fraud aimed at hoodwinking unsuspecting members of the public.

“The Ministry of Education does not have any programme that has forced it to employ staff to manage it, nor does it have any staff member by the name Perminus Wainaina in its ICT department,” noted Mr Buhere.

According to Corporate Staffing Services, the scam begins with an email to the inbox of random individuals where they are congratulated for getting selected as a Data Entry Clerk.

The job seekers are asked to contact a “Mr Felix Adala” through an email when they do, they are requested to pay a fee of KSh 2,000 for the uniform, Sh1, 000 as a deposit.

The victims are then asked to have their uniforms made and given a guideline on how to take their own measurements and send to Adala.
