4 Dead in Kisumu Nightclub Fire

An early morning inferno at Dreamcity Nightclub in Kondele, Kisumu has left four people dead and scores injured.

The fire began at 4 am and raged until 8 am, with a team of firefighters struggling to put it out.

Area residents, who were the first to begin the rescue mission, battled to access the club and saved a number of people.

Revellers who were inside the club broke windows to get out of the building but others were unable to find a way out.

The firefighters have so far pulled out four charred bodies from rooms within the club.

Dreamcity Nightclub also offered accommodation and had guest rooms.

A team from the County Government and numerous police officers swiftly arrived at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains unknown but Kisumu Police boss John Kamau promised to issue a comprehensive statement once investigations are concluded.

Deputy Governor Mathew Owili also arrived on the scene where he was briefed on the situation.

The owner of the club has not yet been named.
