State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita Leads Nairobi Regeneration Committee

Nzioka Waita currently occupies the coveted position of State House Chief of Staff in addition to formally heading the equally powerful position of Head of Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU).

The two positions place him within the president's close circle hence awarding him powers to substantially influence the running of country affairs.

Recent duties designed to him have substantiated the claim that Waita could be the most powerful State House operator at the moment.

He is the person in charge of the Nairobi Regeneration Committee, a task force set up to reclaim the city’s lost glory. It is this team that has firmly supervised the demolition of key installations within the metropolitan as the Nation reported.

According to Nzioka, his main task portfolio is to simply follow up on the president’s executive duties.

Nzioka Waita is the co-author of Executive Order I, a sessional document that redefined the roles, functions and responsibilities of all government departments.

Accordingly, he is deputized by Kanze Dena, acting State House Spokesperson and Eric Kiraithe, the National Government Communication secretary.

As the head of PDU, Waita is tasked with ensuring that all of the president’s signature projects kick off and are implemented as accurately as possible. Such a profile ensures that he calls the shots across all government departments.

He has, however, come out to deny perceptions of bearing excessive powers within influential governance corridors.

“I am a backroom person. My work is to ensure that the job I have been given is accomplished. I work at the pleasure of the President,” he was quoted by the publication.
