Daily Nation Eyes Top Standard Media Reporters

Nation Media Group is set to poach top talent from The Standard by recruiting some of the best reporters into their team.

Inside sources have confirmed the reports indicating that The Standard's prolific reporter Paul Wafula and Vincent Achuka might be rejoining their former employer at Daily Nation though talks are still ongoing.

“No official contract has been signed, no notice issued yet, talks are still underway,” stated an insider seeking anonymity.

Dominic Omondi, a Standard business reporter, on the other hand, is also set to join Business Daily.

Wafula and Achuka, who were initially employers of Nation Media Group, are currently investigative journalists at the Mombasa Road-based station.

The two were both finalists in the 2017 Media Council Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA) in the business reporting category.

Wafula was recruited to The Standard in 2012 while Achuka was recruited in March 2017. The two will join John Kamau on the investigations and special projects desk.

Mutuma Mathiu, the Editorial Director at NMG is seeking to rebuild the investigations and business desk.

The moving of the three will be a big blow to Standard Media Group which is also aiming to get more readers.

This comes a day after Zindzi Kibiku, a news anchor, quit her job at KTN News.
