Why Sharon Otieno's Murder Suspects Want Justice Lessit Out of Case

Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obier, suspects in Sharon Otieno's murder, want presiding Justice Jessie Lessit out of the case.

In an application, the two stated that the judge would not deliver a fair trial.

Ms Otieno, a Rongo University student, was brutally murdered and her naked body dumped in Kodera forest, Homa Bay County.

According to Citizen Digital, the two accused the judge of making prejudicial remarks while she declined to release them on bail.

“I do apprehend, and reasonably so, that I shall not be accorded a fair and impartial trial and I request that the case against me be presided over by any judge other than Justice Lessit,” stated Oyamo.

The two claimed that the court discriminated against them and did not accord them fair treatment.

“All accused persons applied to be admitted on bail and bond and a decision was made which allowed Governor Obado to be released on bail while Caspal Ojwang and myself were denied bail,” Oyamo continued.

The pregnant university student had been abducted alongside Nation journalist Barrack Oduor.

She was pursuing a degree in Medical Records and Information at Rongo University and is said to have been in a relationship with Migori Governor, Okoth Obado.
