NTV's Mark Masai Gives Exclusive Look Into Pope's Plane [VIDEO]

NTV anchor Mark Masai gave Kenyans a rare glimpse into the Papal plane after being selected to cover the pope's first visit to Africa in 2015.

Masai was one of four Kenyan journalists who got the chance to travel with the Pope as he toured across Africa.

The five-day schedule saw the team visit Kenya, Uganda and the Central African Republic.

"As we checked in, we all handed in our passports, yellow fever certificates that we would get back on our way to Rome. This was to ensure we all move together and nobody wanders off or detours," he narrated.

The more than seventy Vatican-accredited journalists were aboard a local commercial plane Alitalia flight AZ4000 which they turned into a media centre.

Soon after embarking on the Italian carrier, Pope Francis interacted journalists and according to the NTV anchor, "it was quite exhilarating being on the same plane as the Pope."

For about half an hour, the Pope shook hands with each journalist. Masai revealed that during this interaction he got to shake the Pope's hand and introduce himself.

Caroline Pigozzi, a journalist with French Weekly magazine gifted the Pope with mosquito repellants and a copy of what is said to be the Pope's favourite movie.

Some had videos from well-wishers which Pope Francis took the time to watch.

After the short session, he left for a section on the plane where he sat with his aides.

Journalists were able to work on news articles while in the plane and send to their respective editors using the airplane Wi-Fi.
