A South Sudanese national is facing eviction from an apartment in Kilimani for failing to pay Ksh40 million for the property.

In court documents, Rose Pompeo Rombey, claimed that she had given her lawyer money to purchase the property only to find out later that Ksh18 million had not been forwarded to the seller.

Rombey stated that she had paid Ksh10 million upfront and another Ksh12 million but the balance of Ksh18 million was supposed to be paid through the lawyer who allegedly did not send the payment.

She accused her lawyer of negligence of failing to remit the balance of the purchase price.

Rombey stated that she was not at peace for fear that she would be evicted.

She now wants the court to restrain her eviction and compel the advocate to fulfill his obligation and damages for the suffering. The case will now be heard on July 1, 2021.

The case came just a week after police were ordered to escort a man to his wife's home in the upmarket Muthaiga Estate where he was asked to collect his belongings and leave the house.

This is after the man was reported to have issued death threats to his wife after he came home drunk in December last year.

Chief Magistrate Angelo Kithinji ordered that the accused should not be seen in the house again.
