The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga, has questioned Deputy President William Ruto's source of wealth, accusing him of splashing millions of shillings in his campaigns daily.

While campaigning in Trans Nzoia County on Saturday, November 20, the ODM leader claimed that the Deputy President spends an estimated Ksh100 million in a month in his tours around the country.

He questioned how the DP would be in such a spending spree yet he earns a salary of not more than Ksh2 million per month.

"He buys vehicles for bishops and pastors. In a month, he uses Ksh100 million yet his salary is only Ksh2 million. Where does he get that money? That is unlawfully obtained money," Odinga opined.

He vowed to end unlawful ways of acquiring wealth should he clinch the presidency in the August 9, 2022 elections, adding that he would recover all lost public money and invest it in government projects.

Addressing the residents, Odinga promised to support maize farmers whom he observed had little to be proud of despite producing the bulk of the maize consumed in the country.

He stated that Trans Nzoia County had been invaded by greedy middle men who have been duping farmers over the years.

"Farming is always a subsidised business across the world. The government subsidies prices so that its citizens can have enough food and the farmers can get enough money," he stated.

In addition, Odinga championed for a decrease in the prices of farming inputs such as seeds and fertilizers.

Raila will square it off with DP Ruto with the former Prime Minister seemingly enjoying the backing of the incumbent, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On the other hand, Ruto has received a boost following the high number of elected leaders who have decamped from the ruling Jubilee Party to his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) outfit.
