Crystal Asige

Crystal Asige is a Nominated Senator and singer who is known for her music and for advocating for the rights of the youth and persons living with disability both within the precincts of Parliament and outside.

Asige is also a diversity equity and inclusion consultant, public speaker, disability rights advocate, and inclusive mobility practitioner.

Asige herself is a person living with disability having lost her eyesight in her teens due to glaucoma.

Nonetheless, Asige did not let her condition peg her back, choosing instead to muster her resilience and forge ahead.

In 2022, she was nominated to the Senate by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and has gone on to become one of the best contributors on the floor of the House.

She fronted some notable proposals such as calling for the auditing of the 2023 KCPE results over reported errors and pushing for tighter regulation of recruitment agencies.

Before her foray into politics, Asige was making waves in the music industry which led to her being signed by Sol Generation, the record label owned by Sauti Sol.

However, a few months into the deal, Asige fell out with the label. Since then, she has in an interview stated that she harbours no ill feelings against her former bosses.

Asige’s independent album, Blinding Allure released in November 2023 garnered critical acclaim

The songstress explains that her music has offered her solace and a voice to speak despite being abled differently.

Asige is a graduate of the West of England Bristol University and is a BBC-trained media professional.
