Edwin Sifuna

Edwin Sifuna is a Nairobi-based lawyer who is the current Nairobi Senator.

The firebrand politician, who is also the Secretary-General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, was very vocal against some of the policies implemented by the Kenya Kwanza administration.

This earned him praise from a large section of Kenyans who consistently lauded his eloquence when articulating matters during media interviews.

Sifuna also sponsored several bills at the Senate including one seeking to amend the Energy Act with the primary objective of promoting transparency within the energy sector.

Sifuna joined elective politics in 2017 when he sought the ODM ticket for Kanduyi Constituency but lost the nominations.

He was, however, granted a direct nomination for the Nairobi Senatorial race during the 2017 General Election. He nonetheless lost to current Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

In the 2022 General Election, Sifuna vied for a second time and won, beating his closest competitor Bishop Margaret Wanjiru of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

His tenure as the SG of the ODM party has been characterised by fierce defence of the Raila Odinga-led party and highlighting of the different issues affecting Kenyans.

Aside from politics, Sifuna is also an active member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
