Triza Ireri

Triza Ireri is a certified nurse and currently serves as the secretary of the Kenya Progressive Nurses Association.

In her capacity, Ireri has successfully defended the rights of nurses and other medical practitioners across the country in negotiating to end strikes and the paralysis afflicting public hospitals.

For instance, in February 2022, Ireri was part of the team that held extensive talks with the Kwale County leadership that culminated in the end of a  two-week health workers strike.

"Residents can now access medical services in all centres. Our strike did not mean that the county was incompetent, it only meant that they failed in their labour relations," she told the press at the time.

As a member of the leadership team at KPNA, Ireri plays a pivotal role in representing the interests of more than 135,000 nurses across all 47 counties in Kenya.

Her mandate involves advancing nursing excellence to ensure positive health outcomes for the public good.

In addition to this, Ireri is committed to promoting profession-led regulation in the public interest.

She actively advocates for a publicly funded, not-for-profit health system, aligning with KPNA's broader goal of ensuring accessible and equitable healthcare for all.

Ireri's dedication extends beyond administrative responsibilities, as she passionately champions and actively participates in periodic child immunisation drives.
