Anne Mawathe is an award-winning Kenyan journalist with national, regional and international experience.

An excellent writer, editor and producer comfortable working across different media platforms and news beats, Anne has distinguished herself for her ground-breaking reporting on feature stories-she has covered the ongoing conflict in Goma, DRC talking to different players– to the insightful features on the environment, crime and society.

She is particularly keen on human rights and health. Her penetrating review of DRC soldiers using rape as a weapon of war brought to world attention a little-understood phenomenon in conflict reporting; her expose on a young rape victim in North Eastern Kenya for Citizen TV gave not just voice to many voiceless women but also secured justice for the little one.

This feature, which also won Anne continental recognition with a CNN award, also secured the rights of the victim as the perpetrator was jailed after her parents had initially been pressurised to accept compensation from the perpetrator as tradition demanded.

Anne's passion for health is currently playing out on afyawatch.co.ke
