Esther Wahome

Esther Wahome grew up in a musical background. Her father, William Wahome, is a hobby musician and was her first inspiration. It is through him that she got interested in music, first as a hobby, and later as a career. After completing her O level at Pangani Girls High School in Nairobi in 1993, Esther ventured into music as a career and is now among the top 3 famous gospel singers in Kenya.

Esther has recorded seven albums ever since, and rose to stardom soon after her first release. In the year 2001, she became the first Kenyan singer to be featured on an international compilation CD. Her song ‘furahia’ from her album by the same name was selected in Europe, and featured on the CD which was titled ‘Stars of Afro-pop’, by A.R.C music and it was distributed internationally. She has also shared the platform with famous gospel singers in the UK such as Noel Richards, Ken Reley and Why Friday Band. Esther has performed in large concerts in New Castle.

At home she has participated and performed in big charity concerts to raise funds for worthy causes. Esther's initial greatest musical inspiration was South Africa's top gospel singer Rebecca Malope, however she cites that now she wants to be a star in her own light. Esther is married and blessed with a daughter

Esther’s association with AI records started with the CD, Lazima Tuwe Kama Watoto, which she had collaborated with a fellow gospel musician Mary Wambui, of the Ahadi ya Bwana hit song fame.. Her album ‘Furahia’ was produced by AI records, in order to promote it, she has been singing at crusades organized by her church and occasionally goes for tours in and out of the country.

Esther Wahome’s song Kuna Dawa, became an instant hit in most social gatherings, the song addresses societal ills, such as the HIV/AIDs pandemic, contends that despite all the suffering we see around us, there is still hope.
