I love Stella. Yes, I do. In fact, I love her more when my days are low and she is my only source of inspiration. Dating my campus girlfriend, and now the mother of my one year daughter, Azura, is the best thing in my life.

That morning, Stella looked into my eyes with some pain and tears almost flowing as she tightened my tie. “I bought you this tie on your birthday,” she said with that captivating smile that always compliments her beauty.

Two days before, I had received an email from my boss asking to see me at 2 pm. The management had conducted reviews and Lucy the tea girl, had tipped me off that I was among those listed on the chopping board.

My sales had depreciated and I couldn’t figure out why. I had prayed, fasted, tithed like my mother always tells me to. I had revised my data and marketing strategies, reached out to my clients but all was in vain. I had already started thinking about how I would use my savings to try and build a business if I was released by the company.

I kissed my daughter goodbye and hugged Stella at the door before rushing down the staircase. I can’t recall whether she shouted something like ‘good luck’ or ‘I love you’, but anyways my mind was already calculating how many months my savings would take us.

I almost passed Nash, the shoe shiner outside our firm and as usual he wouldn’t have missed on bantering me, a Chelsea fan. We were playing against Aston Villa in the English Premier League early kickoff and a loss for Chelsea would throw us out of the top four.

The season had started with a slow start and a new manager coming in midway. We had suffered a number of setbacks like the past months of my career. This game was a decider and we hung by a thread as a loss for Chelsea and a win for Leicester City would have kicked us out of the top four.

The meeting coincided with the Chelsea game and before Linda, the secretary came for me, we had already conceded 2-0. While walking towards the director’s room, I maintained my calm and composure knowing clearly that he was watching me on the CCTV cameras.

Martin, the director, grinned and asked me to sit. He stated that the meeting would be brief and precise as we had discussed a few items in the previous one, two weeks ago.

He kept speaking while staring at his phone. Martin seemed distracted and it was vivid despite his attempts to cover it.

The meeting suddenly turned from my firing to the events on the phone. He opened up and told me that he had placed a multi bet - on his favourite betting site Betika - with Chelsea to win. He was on the verge of losing as the score was 2-1 with Chelsea leading and 73 minutes played.  Chelsea’s captain had just been sent off.

I suddenly got the idea to introduce him to the cash out feature which allows him to cash out his money and save him from losing the entire bet. Martin could still win even if Chelsea drew or lost the match. One can find the cashout feature under the “My Bets” tab in the Betika site.

The feature allows a bettor to withdraw their winnings before the end of a game or an event. This means that one can make a profit depending on the actual odds at the time you decide to cash out. The game-changing deal is available on selected events, fixtures on both pre-matches and live bets, on single and multiple bets.

Martin sighed and from the look on his face, I understood that the cashout feature on his Betika app had come as heavy relief. He asked me if the win reflected immediately to which I confirmed and asked him to look at the “My Bets” tab. The amount will be based on the actual odds at the time you chose to look for a Cash Out offer.

The amount on offer will never be more than the total potential win of the bet slip. Cash Out allows you to: Pay out a portion of a bet before it is settled, reduce your risk and collect some winnings if you’re concerned about the remaining time in an event, or your selections in your Multi Bet not going your way, cancel your bet before kick-off and receive a portion of your bet back if you’ve changed your mind.

In just but a minute, I had gone from a prospective jobless youth to a hero. Martin heaped praise on my critical thinking and problem-solving skills and asked me to apply the same at my work. It was the last chance, he reiterated.

I almost screamed but constrained myself. This day needed a celebration and what way was better than taking Stella out. What made it sweeter was that despite Chelsea losing, we remained top four as Leicester lost too.

Don’t wait to lose when you have a chance to salvage your bet. Join Betika and enjoy the Cash Out feature.
