Arsenal will be seeking revenge against their mid-table rivals Aston Villa, when the two sides face off on Friday, October 22 at the Fly Emirates Stadium at 10 pm.

Aston Villa beat Arsenal both home and away by 1-0 and 3-0 scorelines last season. The rivalry between these two sides started after Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez signed for Aston Villa for  £20 million pounds from Arsenal and was a crucial player in both victories.

Last season, Martinez proved better than error-prone German goalkeeper Bernd Leno who was retained by Arsenal. In the new season 2021/22, the Gunners (Arsenal) were forced to spend  £30 million to purchase goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United as a first-choice goalkeeper.

Aston Villa also beat Arsenal to signing playmaker Emiliano Buendia from Norwich, forcing the Mikel Arteta coached Gunners to buy Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid.

Arsenal is 12th on the log with 11 points, one point ahead of Aston Villa who are 13th on the table.

On paper, Arsenal is the favourite to win this match but face a tricky match against Dean Smith coached Aston Villa.
