Co-op Bank’s Q1 Profit Shoots By 6.8% to Ksh9.63 Billion on Strong Financial Performance

Co-op Bank has recorded another spectacular start to the year, making Ksh9.63 billion in profit before tax in the first three months of 2025.

In comparison, Co-op Bank registered a profit before tax of Ksh9 billion in Q1 of 2024.

The bank has announced a profit of Ksh6.9 billion after tax for the first quarter of 2025, covering January to March. This is a Ksh300 million increase from Ksh6.6 billion recorded in the same period last year.

Airtel Kenya Launches Africa’s First AI Powered Spam Alert Service

Airtel Kenya has launched an AI-powered Spam Alert Service, which will, at no extra cost, end the numerous spam messages and calls.

The new service available to all Airtel Kenya subscribers provides a two-layer protection against scammers and fraudsters. The AI tool, Africa’s first spam alert, will also stop unsolicited promotional marketing messages.

According to the company, its new AI will stop all spam, which refers to unsolicited SMS messages, without reading specific messages on a user's phone. This is to retain privacy for all subscribers.

KRA Launches eRITS to Ease Rental Tax Compliance for Landlords

Landlords and property owners across the nation will now have a chance to pay their taxes seamlessly and conveniently after the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) unveiled an Electronic Rental Income Tax System (eRITS). 

The platform built on KRA's Enterprise Integration Platform, Gava Connect, is set to streamline compliance for the real estate sector from a technology perspective, enabling landlords to pay their monthly rental income taxes on time.

Co-op Bank Records Ksh34.8 Billion Profits in 2024, Its Highest in History

The Cooperative Bank of Kenya has recorded its highest-ever profit for the 2024 financial year closing at Ksh34.8 billion.

This performance is an impressive 7.5 per cent improvement from the 2023 financial year when it recorded Ksh32.4 billion in profit.

After tax, this amounts to a profit of Ksh25.5 billion in the 2024 financial year and Ksh23.2 in 2023, a 9.8 per cent increase.
