Qatar Airways is set to expand its operations in Africa by increasing flights to Entebbe, Uganda. Starting from 1 August to 30 September, the airline will operate 11 weekly flights between Doha and Entebbe, up from the current daily service. This increase aims to meet summer demand and enhance connectivity for passengers traveling to various global destinations.
The expansion is part of Qatar Airways' strategy to strengthen air connectivity across Africa and foster economic, business, and cultural ties. Hendrik du Preez, Qatar Airways Vice President - Africa, highlighted that the additional flights will benefit passengers traveling from Uganda to the USA, Asia, Europe, and North Africa. It will also support trade and tourism growth between Uganda and Qatar.
Qatar Airways' commitment to the African market is evident with the addition of flights to Entebbe. This move follows the introduction of flights to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, connecting the region with the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. The airline has also resumed flights to Alexandria and Cairo, further expanding its network across Africa.
Currently, Qatar Airways offers 180 flights per week to various destinations in Africa, which expands to over 900 weekly flights when including codeshare partners. With strategic investments and numerous interline agreements, the airline is demonstrating its long-term dedication to Africa's aviation sector and infrastructure development.
