PAC University on Friday, February 16 became the first institution of higher learning in Kenya and East Africa to host the D-Space institutional repository system on Amazon Web Services (AWS), in collaboration with Silicon Overdrive.

In the deal, Amazon Web Services, a subsidiary company of Amazon, will provide the University with cloud storage services, while Silicon Overdrive, an advanced partner of Amazon Web Services, will provide the cloud environment.

The University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dionysius Kihika Kiambi, launched the platform at a ceremony held at their Thika Road campus.

“The library is a critical space for any learning institution across the world. At PAC University, we are doing everything possible to ensure we invest in creating a world-class library system, and this new platform is a testament to this commitment. We will keep leveraging technology to ensure that our students have access to the best educational services,” Kiambi stated.
