One person was Wednesday killed and seven others injured after supporters of Ruaraka Member of Parliament (MP) Tom Kajwang and Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro clashed in Mathare.
The skirmishes occurred after Ongoro declared her interest to vie for the Ruaraka seat in the upcoming General Election.
Both Kajwang and Ongoro hail from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and are set to square it out in the party's nominations slated for next month.
Police have confirmed the incident indicating that the deceased died after he was stabbed in the chest.
The body of the deceased identified as Mr Dan Onyango was moved to the mortuary, while the injured were taken to Kenyatta National Hospital.
Violent altercations have become rampant at political events with concern emerging that political leaders are encouraging their supporters to be hostile on their rivals.
