Since President Uhuru Kenyatta ascended to power in 2013, Kenya has received more attention than it had in 51 years.

Leaders from the world have trooped to the country beginning with US President Barrack Obama in July 2015.

Since Obama's visit, Kenya has become a major stopover for many leaders touring Africa.

Here are some of the top 10 leaders who visited Kenya in 2016:

1. Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – July 5, 2016

Netanyahu's visit to Kenya was the first visit to the country by an Israeli premier.

During the Israeli PM's visit, major roads around the city were shut down without prior notice leaving many city residents stuck on the roads for long.

Interestingly, Netanyahu apologised for the inconvenience.

2. Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg – September 1, 2016

Zuckerberg made a surprise visit to the country and paid a visit to Mama Oliech's restaurant where he feasted on fish and ugali.

3. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe – August 2016

It was the first time Abe visited Kenya to attend the Japan's African development conference (TICAD) that was being held in Nairobi.

4. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi – July 2016

Modi’s visit was the first by an Indian Premier since Indira Gandhi in 1981.

Pop Icon and Global Philanthropist Maddona Ciccone visited the country and vowed to support First Lady’s Margaret Kenyatta Beyond Zero campaign.

Despite a seemingly frosty ties between Tanzania and Kenya, Magufuli came to the country and pledged to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta to make sure the two countries had a good relationship.
