The Kenya Meteorological Department on Thursday warned Kenyans to expect heavy rainfall in several regions of the country including Nairobi.
In its advisory, the weatherman stated that rainfall was expected in various regions including the Central Highlands which encompass Nairobi County.
Other regions that are expected to receive rainfall include Western Kenya, parts of Northwestern, Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley regions.
“Isolated heavy rainfall events likely in these areas,” the Meteorological Department warned as it urged Kenyans to be cautious of potential risks associated with such rains.
Kenya Met also revealed that sporadic showers were expected in Machakos and Kajiado counties.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country was expected to experience generally dry, sunny weather conditions for the whole day.
According to the weatherman, strong southeasterly winds over 25 knots (12.5 m/s) were anticipated in the Eastern half and Northwestern region.
The latest announcement by Kenya Met comes a day after the Department revealed that the rains were expected to subside in various parts of the country.
In its Wednesday, May 15 weather forecast, the weatherman noted that the peak of rains was in April, and no severe flooding was expected.
"Occasional rain is however likely over Western Kenya, parts of the Rift Valley, Central Kenya, & coastal strip. Game parks should generally be accessible," Kenya Met revealed in its May 15 forecast.
Kenyans were also warned to brace for high daytime temperatures of up to 30 degrees Celsius, especially in most parts of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western regions.
Additionally, night temperatures were predicted to go below 10 degrees Celsius, particularly in some parts of the Central Highlands.
