The National Lands Commission (NLC) issued a notice to 245 landlords whose parcel is set to be acquired for the construction of four roads.
In a Gazette Notice released on Friday, the Commission, which was working with the Kenyan Rural Roads Authority, published the names of landlords with precise directions on how to seek compensation.
In the first notice, the Commission notified 102 landowners whose parcels were taken to oversee the construction of the Mukuyu -Githambo-Kiruri Road.
The owners were asked to visit various assistant chiefs and chiefs offices between June 19 and June 26 for the hearing of compensation claims.
"The National Land Commission, on behalf of Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), gives notice of inquiry for hearing of claims to compensation for interested parties in the land required for the construction of Mukuyu – Githambo – Kiruri (D440) Road Project shall be held on the dates and places," read the notice in part.
"Every person interested in the affected land is required to deliver to the National Land Commission on or before the day of the inquiry a written claim to compensation, a copy of Identify Card (ID), Personal Identification No. (PIN), land ownership documents and bank account details. The Commission offices are in Ardhi House, 3rd Floor, Room 305, 1st Ngong Avenue, Nairobi and at the National Land Commission’s County Coordinator’s office in Murang’a County."
The Commission further indicated that it intended to acquire parcels of land for the Gatiiguru-IthangaGakungu and Gakungu–Kamahuha–Mbombo Road Project in Kiambu
County. The affected landlords were 44.
Separately, NLC further indicated that it intended to acquire parcels belonging to 37 landlords for the construction of Kwale –
Kinango (B92) Road in Kwale County.
"Plans for the affected land may be inspected during office hours at the office of the National Land Commission Ardhi House, 3rd Floor, Room 305, 1st Ngong Avenue, Nairobi, and at the National Land Commission County Co-ordinator’s Offices," added the statement.
62 landlords were also notified of the upcoming hearing of compensation for the Meru–Mikinduri–Maua Road Project. The hearings will take place at the chiefs offices in Meru between June 25 and June 26.

This came a month after the government notified 50 landlords to give up their parcels of land for the expansion of geothermal power.
