Saboti Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi has disclosed that he has never met President William Ruto since he was elected into office.
Amisi explained that he has never met the head of state because they read from different scripts in terms of personal and leadership values.
"I can never be invited. They invite all MPs except Caleb Amisi. I'm the only elected leader from Western Region who has never met President Ruto because my principles and his are like day and night," Amisi said.
The vocal Saboti MP claimed that he has never been invited to any meetings convened by the President at State House or the other State Lodges across the country.
"They never call me to such meetings because they know I’ll embarrass the president. They don’t want him to be embarrassed because they won’t get that little money they want from him," he stated.
The Western Kenyan lawmaker launched a scathing attack on leaders from the region enjoying a dalliance with the head of state, saying they were keeping the proximity for personal interests.
He stated that the meetings were held under the guise of lobbying for development projects when they bear no tangible material benefits for the voters of the Western bloc or specific constituencies.
“There can never be a conversation between the president and members of the National Assembly. The president cannot dish out development projects because he has no constitutional power to do that. It is the MPs who appropriate money for the projects and not the other way around," he explained.
The MP claimed that leaders from Western Kenya who have met the President avail themselves to the meetings at night to earn a token.
Speaking at Spice FM, Amisi questioned how projects were dished out to the Western region days before the 61st Madaraka Day that was held in Masinde Muliro Stadium on Saturday, June 1.
He opined that a project like the Matulo Airstrip adds little to no value to the locals because of the hierarchy of needs of the residents, but was either way constructed.
The MP's comment came when there are visible leadership cracks in the Western region with leaders taking hardline stances.
