Traffic along the Outering Road near Donholm was disrupted on Sunday morning after a car veered off an elevated stretch of the road along the service lane and plunged several meters down, blocking part of the road.

Photos and videos obtained by Kenyans.co.ke showed the vehicle overturned, with its upper section nearly completely destroyed.

Other motorists were seen swarming the area to assess the situation and to check whether there were any occupants in the vehicle.

Witnesses report that the vehicle's driver died at the scene, but authorities have yet to provide any confirmation.

By the time this article was published, no security agencies or rescue teams had arrived to help in towing the vehicle and restoring traffic flow along the route.

"They have just rolled over from up there, and you can see it is upside down; the driver has gone, and everything has stopped," one of the witnesses said.

It is unclear what led to the accident, but no other vehicles were involved.

The accident comes two days after two public service vehicles collided head-on along Thika Road, leaving at least 13 people injured.

One of the vehicles, according to witnesses, was heading to Thika, while another was en route to Nairobi city when the two vehicles collided, trapping several passengers inside the wreckage.

According to reports, the accidents happened in the early hours of Friday, September 19, when one of the drivers lost control while trying to avoid hitting a donkey carrying water jerrycans on the road.

After the incident, one of the vehicles caught fire, but the flames were quickly extinguished by locals, who were already at the scene to rescue those who were trapped in the vehicles.

Despite there being no fatalities in the incident, both drivers of the vehicles were left with critical injuries. Seven people with critical injuries and six others with bruises and minor injuries.

The police and other rescue teams later arrived at the scene to tow the vehicles and rush the injured ones to hospitals to restore the normal traffic flow along the busy highway.
