Nairobi, Kiambu, and Machakos are Among the Regions to Experience Rains This Week

The Kenya Meteorological Department has advised Kenyans in various regions to prepare for continued rainfall and strong winds over the weekend.

The weather department predicted that several parts of the country, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Siaya, Kisumu, Nakuru, Kitui, Machakos, and Mombasa, are likely to experience showers and rainfall from Friday, December 19, through Tuesday, December 23, according to its weekly forecast.

Marsabit and Turkana counties are also likely to be hit with strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 m/s) during this period.

Cloudy conditions with light morning showers and sunny intervals are expected in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties.

According to the weatherman, showers are set to hit a few places in these regions both during the afternoon and night in the next five days.

The maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 29 °C, with a minimum of 05°C.

The weather in Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, will be no different from the aforementioned regions, according to the department.

However, these regions are expected to be warmer with the maximum temperatures expected to be 32°C, while the minimum will be 13°C.

Showers in Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as Tana River County, are expected during the morning, afternoon, and night.

These counties are likely to record maximum temperatures of 34°C and minimum temperatures of 23°C.

Daylog showers and rains are expected in Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties in the next five days. The nights will also be rainy.

During this period, the maximum temperatures in these counties are expected to reach 32°C, while the minimum will be 07°C.
Residents of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties are also expected to experience rains and showers throughout the week, during the morning, afternoon, and night. 

Maximum temperatures in these regions are expected to reach 37°C, with minimums expected to be around 16°C.

.In contrast, Turkana and Samburu counties are forecasted to have sunny days and partly cloudy nights during the same period. Daytime temperatures are expected to peak at 37°C, with nighttime lows also hovering around 37°C.
