Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has issued a stern warning against the harassment of Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers, vowing that the government will deploy the 'full force of the law' to shield rangers from emerging threats and civilian attacks.

Speaking during the KWS cadet pass-out held in Manyani on 19 December 2025, he stated that KWS rangers will be protected by the law.

Kindiki warned that individuals who threaten or attack KWS officers shall be dealt with as the government ensures the safety of the rangers.

"Rangers will be protected by the law and those who threaten or attack them shall face the full force of justice," Kindiki declared.

The Deputy President also urged the rangers to ensure that they respect human rights in their service.

"Conservation authority must always be matched with accountability and respect for human rights; the rule of law must respect both people and human rights," Kindiki reiterated.

Kindiki challenged the 147 cadets who successfully passed out to ensure that they defend the wildlife and address emerging threats from human-wildlife interaction.

The Deputy President also urged the cadets to defend natural resources in their service.

Kindiki revealed that the government is implementing a world-class national wildlife protection and anti-poaching modernisation framework by using modern technology in wildlife protected areas.

He reiterated that the government is also strengthening cross-border cooperation to dismantle international crime networks.

Kindiki revealed that the government is establishing a national wildlife forensic and intelligence centre to fight poaching with science and precision.

According to Kindiki, the government is improving the welfare of cadet officers and rangers by ensuring they receive specialised training and proper housing.

Kindiki further stated that the government is tapping into Kenya’s tourism potential by reopening and revitalizing previously inactive parks and reserves in all 47 counties.
