Political activist Kasmuel McOure, has secured a role in the Ministry of Cooperatives, in a move aimed at enhancing youth engagement in economic empowerment initiatives.
Cooperatives Principal Secretary, Susan Mang'eni, on Thursday, December 18, announced a potential partnership with Kasmuel to ensure more youths receive timely benefits from government initiatives.
According to the PS, the collaboration will ensure that more young people can access timely information, opportunities, and tools that support their economic empowerment.
"To expand the reach and impact of our State Department, we look forward to collaborating with Kasmuel McOure, the convener of the Broad-Based Youth Front," PS Mang'eni announced.
She went on to add, "This is to ensure that more young people can access timely information, opportunities, and tools that support their economic empowerment."
The PS emphasised that the partnership would focus on deepening youth awareness and uptake of key government initiatives such as the Hustler Fund and the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme.
On his part, Kasmuel affirmed that his involvement would be driven through the Broad-Based Youth Front, an initiative focused on ensuring young people are better connected to opportunities.
He noted that the discussions are centred on linking young people to timely information, enterprise support, and existing tools within the State Department for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
"Our focus is on connecting more young people to timely information, enterprise support, and the tools available within the State Department for MSMEs," Kasmuel stated.
The latest development comes hardly a week after Kasmuel launched the Broad-Based Youth Front to champion the interests of the youths in President William Ruto's administration.
In a statement on December 10, the young political activist noted that he would not take any direction from any politician who did not participate in the June 2024 anti-government protests.
"The Broad-Based Youth Front will carry this mandate to its logical conclusion. If the government delivers, we shall face the nation and argue for continuity. If it fails, we will speak the truth without fear," Kasmuel noted.
