Former MP Kalembe Ndile’s Wife Succumbs After Brief Illness

Former Kibwezi Member of Parliament Kalembe Ndile's wife, Magdalene Kalembe, has passed away.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua announced her death, stating that Magdalene passed away while undergoing treatment at Nairobi City Hospital.

She was rushed to the hospital on Saturday after developing a fever, but unfortunately, efforts to save her life were unsuccessful, leading to her demise.

At the time of her passing, Magdalene Kalembe was serving as a nominated Member of the County Assembly of Makueni, a position she had been appointed to by the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.

“It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of Hon. Magdalene Kamene Nguluku Kalembe. Hon. Magdalene was the beloved wife of the late Hon. Kalembe Ndile,” CS Mutua announced while mourning the deceased.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the Kalembe/Nguluku family, friends, and all who knew her during this painful time of grief,” he added.

The CS noted that he was in touch with the family and consultations were underway for burial arrangements. 

The tragic incident four years after Magdalene's husband, Kalembe Ndile passed away at the Nairobi Hospital after developing stomach complications.

While at Nairobi Hospital, Kalembe Ndile was diagnosed with multiple illnesses including; liver cirrhosis, cancer of the stomach, and kidney failure.

Following the diagnosis, the former MP was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he succumbed and was pronounced dead.

Ndile served as the Kibwezi legislator between 2003 and 2007.

He died at the age of 57 years and was buried at his home in Makueni County on June 11, 2021.
