A prominent influencer in the X space, whose identity remains undisclosed, has hinted at potential acts of brutality unfolding in the ongoing anti-Finance protests in Naivasha.
With close to 39 thousand followers on the platform, the X user claimed to have received a distress call from a parent seeking help for minors allegedly detained in a Naivasha police station.
During the call, the woman tearfully described the plight of children detained for participating in protests against the controversial Finance Bill.
She lamented that parents have been denied access to visit or communicate with their detained children.
"A mother called me in tears seeking help. In the Naivasha protest, kids, some in class 3, were arrested and their parents have been denied access to them."
This incident has sparked outrage in the X space, with many users demanding answers as to why children are being detained in a police station over protests against the Finance Bill.
Reports indicate that police officers at the station are allegedly demanding bribes for the release of the minors. Without payment, there is no assurance that the children will be freed.
"Police told parents their kids would be arraigned, then later demanded 100k cash bail i order to free them."
This development has raised serious concerns, leading a group of lawyers to take immediate action and investigate the matter. Surprisingly, lawyers who volunteered to follow up on the situation have confirmed that children are indeed being held at the police station.
"One of the lawyers who’s offered to help has confirmed that truly the kids are being held at the police station. She’s headed there now!"
Reports indicate that police in Naivasha had arrested several youths, including minors, for alleged involvement in looting and property destruction during Tuesday's anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests that shook the town.
While the protests began peacefully, they escalated into chaos in the evening, with hundreds of youths reportedly invading a supermarket and making off with valuable property.
