Auctioneer Announces Auction of Plane Stuck at DRC Airport

Kenyans whose aircraft have been lying at Ndjili Airport in Kinshasha, DR Congo, were on Friday given a 30-day ultimatum to collect it.

Failure to which, the auctioneer representing Air Kasai which is based in DRC will dispose of the property through auction. The notice was published in the Kenya Gazette on Friday.

According to the notice, the plane whose registration number is 5Y-SKN, a Fokker type, had undergone repairs while at the airport's premises.

The owner is therefore required to settle the storage charges as well as repair before the plane is cleared to leave the premises.

"Notice is given pursuant to section 5 of the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act (Cap. 38) of the laws of Kenya, to the owner(s) of the undermentioned Aircraft/salvage: registration 5Y-SKN, serial No. 20110 Fokker 50 type, which is lying at the premises of Ndjili Airport, Kinshasha, DR Congo, to take delivery of the same within thirty (30) days from the date of publication of this notice upon payment of all outstanding storage and repair charges and any other incidental cost uncured thereto at the date delivery is taken," read the notice in part.

"If the aforesaid aircraft/salvage is not collected at the expiry of the notice mentioned above, the same shall be sold by auction or private treaty by Milestone Auctioneers, at Ndjili Airport, Kinshasha, DR Congo."

The notice appeared alongside several others in which owners of motor vehicles and other machinery were directed to collect the vehicles or risk seeing them auctioned.

In one of the notices, Tata Holdings announced that it was auctioning trucks and other automobiles that had been left in its garage for over five years.

The garage is located along Mombasa Road.

The owners were directed to collect the property within 30 days or 'Top Scout (K) Limited shall proceed to dispose of the said motor vehicles and scrap metals by way of public auction/private
treaty.'

In total, 33 properties were listed 27 of which were motor vehicles. All of which had been held for over 5 years.

Other auctioneers put up motorcycles and motor vehicles splattered across different garages across the country.
