The Council of Legal Education on Tuesday published the names of universities cleared to offer law courses within the Kenyan boundaries.
In a notice carried in local dailies, the council announced that the universities were the only legal education providers and legal education programmes cleared by the state.
Broken down, only four institutions have been cleared to offer masters programmes (a category in which the University of Nairobi was conspicuously missing), 18 approved to offer a Bachelor of Laws, and five approved to offer a Diploma of Law.
Kenyatta University has a pending application for licensing or renewal of a license to offer a Master of Laws (LLM).
