Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday revealed that the daughter of an unnamed Cabinet Secretary (CS) in President William Ruto's government was among the protestors who staged anti-government protests.
Speaking at the Pan African Youth Convention held in Nairobi, the Wiper leader recounted his last conversation with one of Ruto's Cabinet Secretaries just minutes to his appearance at the youth conference when the minister communicated this to him.
The minister who is believed to be a female CS based on the pronoun Kalonzo used, admitted that her daughter was among the youths who participated in the protests that forced the Kenya Kwanza government to shelve the Finance Bill, 2024.
"When I was waiting to come here, I saw a Cabinet Minister in William Ruto's government and she told me shockingly that her daughter was in that demonstration, against her mother and her president," Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo lauded the youth protestors for leading a revolution into a new era. This Kalonzo said, should be embraced by all African countries towards creating a new style of politics that will see leaders account for every decision they make.
Kalonzo further said the CS admitted to drawing lessons from anti-government protests that had rocked most parts of the country.
"She said we have all learned our lessons in humility, thanks to Gen Z."
According to the Azimio-allied principal, Kenyan politicians will going forward restrain themselves from staging any displays of opulence over backlash fears.
He further added that the youth have shown the entire world how youth-inspired active participation through representation, education, and policy reforms can bring democratic ideals to life resulting in the defeat of authoritarian practices.
The Former Vice President urged the youth to push for reforms toward an all-inclusive governance structure. This he said, will see to it that youths play an active role in governance.
While making his remarks, Kalonzo rallied the government and private investors to create youth development hubs to generate employment for the youth.
