Police officers in Nakuru on Sunday revealed that the deceased Eileen Cherotich and her boyfriend engaged in an argument before her death.

Speaking to the press, a police officer operating in Nakuru West where the incident happened revealed that three people, including the owner of the vehicle, had been apprehended in connection with the investigations.

He indicated that the preliminary information showed that the 22-year-old girl, who was in the vehicle with her boyfriend, engaged in an argument before dying mysteriously.

"The (three) were leaving a party. They were having a drinking spree at a certain club in Nakuru.

As they were going back, the deceased and his boyfriend had an argument inside the car," the officer stated.

He further noted that the police are yet to establish whether Cherotich was pushed out of the vehicle or jumped out on her own following the argument.

"All of a sudden, nobody knows what happened, the deceased was out of the vehicle. Whether she was thrown, whether she was jumped on her own, we have not yet established.

"Right now we have the owner of the car and one of the girls who were in that vehicle," the officer added.

The three are being held at Nakuru West Police Station while the body of the deceased was transferred to Nakuru County Referral Hospital.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, led to protests from students at the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology where Cherotich was a student.

The protesters lamented that young girls at the institution were being preyed on by older men eyeing them for sex.

They noted that instances of girls being whisked away by older men had occurred severally putting their academic life in jeopardy.

Authorities are, however, yet to make public the age of Cherotich's boyfriend or the company he keeps.
