Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor on Monday commenced postmortem examinations on some of the mutilated bodies recovered from the Kware dumpsite in Nairobi.
While addressing the press, Oduor revealed that one of the bodies recovered from the dumpsite had been dismembered into two almost equal parts.
According to him, the body of the victim was mutilated on the lumber area which is located on the lower abdomen and a sharp object was used in doing so.
Oduor disclosed the victim could have potentially succumbed as a result of excessive bleeding due to a head injury caused by a blunt object that was used by the perpetrator.
The government pathologist noted the process of examining the rest of the bodies would commence on Wednesday, July 17, stating the bodies would first be subjected to x-ray.
“This exercise will continue until we finish since there are some of the body parts which are not here so that we can be able to tell how many people were involved and what was their cause of death,” Oduor stated.
Oduor while explaining the preliminary findings, dismissed similarities of the deaths to that of Rita Waeni who was murdered over six months ago.
According to Oduor, in Waeni's case, most of the body parts had been maimed including the legs and even the deceased's trunk.
“For Waeni, the legs were separate, each body part was separate,” Johansen Oduor clarified.
Johansen Oduor's sentiments come a day after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin announced the arrest of a prime suspect linked to the deaths of over 9 women whose bodies were retrieved from an abandoned quarry-turned dumpsite in Mukuru, Nairobi.
According to Mohamed Amin, the suspect was arrested at dawn on Monday outside a club in the Kayole area of Nairobi while watching the Euro 2024 final match.
“As we were apprehending him this morning, he was in the process of luring another victim. As investigations progress, we shall be able to get hold of the victim,” Amin stated.
“We are likely to arrest more suspects because we believe that he was not alone in the commission of this reprehensible act and very soon we shall be able to arrest them. We shall cast the net wider," he added.
