Ida Odinga Celebrates Birthday in Colourful Ceremony

The Odinga family celebrated Ida Odinga’s 74th birthday in a grand event filled with pomp, colour, and dance. 

The star-studded ceremony, which also marked the couple's Golden Anniversary, was a night to remember with a lively mix of rhumba, Benga, and ohangla music setting the stage for the celebration.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who had to cancel other engagements to be present, spoke fondly of the occasion, expressing his joy and pride. 

"This is a very special occasion once again to gather here and celebrate Nyargem. I was supposed to go to some places today but I had to cancel to be here," he said, referring to his wife affectionately.

The evening was not just about celebrating Ida’s birthday but also a time for the couple to reflect on their journey together.

In a heartfelt message, the couple looked back on the years they’ve shared, reminiscing about the milestones they’ve achieved and the lessons they’ve learned both individually and as a couple.

“While celebrating the past, the family also looks ahead to the future with hope, excitement, and the knowledge that our journey is far from over,” the message stated.

On her part, an overjoyed Ida appreciated her husband and all the guests who attended the event to celebrate her 74th birthday in the posh event.

"Today is a great day for me because I have been introduced by none other than Baba, in many cases he doesn't introduce me. Thank you to those who are here because I know you are all here for me," Ida stated.

The Odingas celebrated the accumulation of shared memories, from the early days of their marriage to the joys of raising a family and the many adventures they’ve embarked upon together.

As the night progressed, the atmosphere remained vibrant, with guests joining in the celebration, dancing, and enjoying the music. 

The event was a testament to the enduring bond between Raila and Ida Odinga, and the love and respect they continue to inspire in those around them.

Leaders present at the event were Governors Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, Anne Waiguru, Wavinya Ndeti and Johnson Sakaja, Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, among others.
