TSC Announces 5,690 Principals, Deputy Principals, and Head Teachers Jobs

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on Tuesday, November 12, announced the hiring of an additional 5,690 teachers for senior roles within the country in both primary and secondary schools with a one-week application period.

In its announcement, the commission revealed that it would be hiring 755 teachers for the position of post-primary school principals, an equivalent of the secondary schools.

For the appointment to the Principal position, candidates will be required to have served as Deputy Principals or as a Senior Master for a minimum period of six months.

''For appointment to this grade, a teacher must have served as Deputy Principal II/Senior Master I, T-Scale 12 for a minimum period of six (6) Months and have obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process,''the TSC stated.

''A teacher must have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers; and meet any other requirement deemed necessary by the Commission,'' it added.

TSC will additionally hire 816 teachers for the position of Deputy Principals across the country, highlighting that it will require individuals who have served as Senior Masters in their schools for a minimum period of three years.

''For appointment to this grade, a teacher must have obtained a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process; and have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to other teachers,’’ the Commission stated.

According to the TSC, the 5,690 teachers will be hired in line with the Career Progression Guidelines for teachers that require progression and promotion of teachers who have served for a certain number of years within the education system.

For the primary schools, the commission also announced that it will hire an additional 1,208 school heads to be considered for the roles as the government strives to address the teacher shortage in the country.

For appointment to the primary school headteacher position, TSC announced that a teacher must have served as Deputy Head Teacher II TSC Scale 9 for a minimum period of three years.

The Commission also added that for teachers to be considered for the primary school heads, they must have satisfactory ratings in the performance appraisal process and have demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and provide professional support to other teachers.

The government will further hire 2,911 teachers for the positions of deputy headteacher who will be posted across the country within the primary schools. For appointment to this grade, a teacher will be required to have served as Senior Teacher I T- Scale 8 for a minimum period of three years.

Interested candidates, who meet the required qualifications, have been advised to submit their applications online through the TSC portal by Monday, November 18, at midnight.
