Police in Nairobi on Tuesday, November 19, gunned down a robbery with violence suspect who had been on their radar for some time.
The suspect, Ian Omondi, famously known as Iano, was shot following an exchange of fire with police in Njiru Sub-County along Kangundo Road.
The suspect is linked to several robbery incidents in the city and was also accused of being the mastermind behind the theft of motorbikes in the area.
A bodaboda rider in the area confirmed that several motorbikes had gone missing in recent weeks and although some were recovered, others are yet to be traced.
''Many of us have lost our motorbikes here, some have been recovered while some have not been recovered,'' Jessy Munene a boda boda guy told the media.
Earlier, the suspect was captured on CCTV going after the Bodaboda Association chair of the KCC stage at Mowlem, allegedly over a mob beating he had been subjected to.
The footage seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed the late suspect going after the chairman, armed with a gun.
''He was once caught in the act and beaten by a mob but was saved and taken to the hospital for treatment," said an eyewitness.
''Immediately after he was discharged he went on a revenge mission looking for those who had orchestrated his beating," he added.
Police also arrested his wife Stella Nyambura to aid in the investigations.
The slain suspect was also linked to other robbery incidents in Njiru, Kayole, Buruburu and Ruai.
His body was taken to the mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
