Kithure Kindiki on Sunday, November 24, aimed at a section of political leaders in what was a rare show of tenacity from the Deputy President.

The former Interior CS spoke at the African Inland Church (AIC) Mission in Korr, Laisamis Constituency, Marsabit County in his first public remarks since his speech was brutally rejected in Muran'ga County a day earlier.

During the church service, Kindiki sounded a subtle warning to leaders who he claimed were dividing the country by the manner in which they were criticising the government.

"Anyone can say what they want o what is good for this country," Kindiki said, adding, "But let us not correct each other in a manner that shows disrespect."

Without mentioning names, the Deputy President further accused some influential leaders of resorting to incitement to frustrate the current regime.

He added, "Some leaders have nothing else to say to the public, so they resort to incitement. Any leader inciting a community or a section of society is not worth that title of a leader."

Kindiki was accompanied by several other Members of Parliament including Joseph Lekuton (Laisamis), Naomi Waqo (Marsabit), John Bwire (Taveta), Beatrice Elachi (Dagoretti North), John Paul Mwirigi (Igembe South), Gideon Kimaiyo ( Keiyo South) and Geoffrey Mulanya ( Nambale), Marsabit County Government leaders and community leaders were present.

The DP's comments came amid a brewing battle for supremacy in the Mount Kenya region, where his predecessor Rigathi Gachagua is seemingly keen on establishing his dominance, despite his impeachment.

During a parallel church service in Murang'a County on Sunday, Kindiki's predecessor Rigathi Gachagua went on an untamed tirade against President William Ruto, whom he accused of taking a hard stance when he tried to criticise him.

Gachagua also appeared to reference the Murang'a incident on Saturday, when attendees at the burial of an MCA went up in arms when another MCA attempted to read Kindiki's speech and message of condolences.

"I told them 'wasiguze mlima'  but they did. They are now feeling the effects," Gachagua observed. "What they saw in Embu and Murang'a is just the beginning. More is yet to come."

Meanwhile, Gachagua told his ardent supporters that his next political move would be announced in January 2025.
