CS Tuya Forms KDF Pensions Appeals Committee as 4 CSs Makes New Appointments

Cabinet Secretaries across various ministries have made fresh appointments and revoked others in a bid to streamline operations within their dockets.

According to a gazette notice published on Friday, January 31, Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya announced the establishment of the Kenya Defence Forces Pensions Appeals Committee.

Members appointed to the committee for a three-year term included Colonels Joseph Yator, Lewis Muluvi, and Muthomi Nchuurai. She also appointed Elly Onge as the committee’s secretary.

At the same time, Tourism CS Rebecca Miano appointed Nancy Waturi to be a member of the Kenya Wildlife Service Board of Trustees for three years and revoked the appointment of Peter Fredrick Moll and Edward Norton.

Labour CS Alfred Mutua also made four notable appointments. He appointed Wesley Siele, Rachel Monyoncho, Francis Wangara, and Carolyn Chepkoech Rutto to be members of the National Industrial Training Authority Board for three years.

In the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, CS Eric Mugaa appointed Nicholas Wambua to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Tanathi Water Works Development Agency for three years, with effect from January 31, 2025.

Education CS Julius Ogamba revoked the appointment of Bob Ndubi as a member of the Council of Kisii University, with effect from January 31, this year.

Additionally, Health CS Deborah Barasa appointed Leonard Sang to be a member of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital Board for three years.

Meanwhile, CS Mutahi Kagwe, who was recently appointed to the Agriculture docket, also made a significant announcement by declaring the domesticated Water Buffalo as a food animal in line with the Meat Control Act.

Similarly, Treasury CS John Mbadi extended the term of the Pending Bills and Verification Committee appointed on September 30, 2023.

Members appointed to the committee included Edward Ouko, Tirop Kosgey, Ali Abdulrazaq, Hesbon Omollo, Eric Onyango Gumbo, Patience Mulondo, James Washington, Munene Gitonga, and Bernard Ndungu. 

Other members who were also appointed to the committee are Nicholas Munywoki, James Kung’u, Cassius Kusienya, Peter Kitheka, Margaret Gichimu, Maximus Siwa, Kanini Nthiga, Livingstone Mburu, David Kipchumba Ruto, and Susan Oyatsi.

The committee was tasked with scrutinising and analysing the existing government pending bills accumulated between June 1, 2005, and June 30, 2022, and making recommendations on the settlement of the same.
