The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a public auction of various items, including sofa sets, chairs, car parts, and other goods, to be conducted on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

The auction, which will be held online in partnership with Phillips International Auctioneers, aims to dispose of obsolete furniture, office equipment, and other assorted goods stored in various KRA warehouses across the country.

Among the highlighted items up for auction are assorted chairs, sofa sets, and motor vehicle parts. The auction will also feature office furniture, laboratory equipment, and electronic devices. According to KRA, viewing of the items will be open from March 11 to March 25 at designated locations in Nairobi, Eldoret, Kisumu, Nakuru, Nyeri, and Lodwar.

In Nairobi, items can be viewed at the KRA Warehouse on Likoni Road and the basement of Times Towers. The available goods include a Yale medium-size safe, assorted cabinets, photocopiers, paper shredders, a compressor, assorted lighting fixtures, and various motor vehicle tyres.

In the North Rift region, goods will be displayed at the Eldoret Cereal Board Godown and Eldoret Airport. Items include used tyres and batteries, PVC pipes, Kyocera copiers, scrap metal, metal cabinets, and metal grilles.

At the Lodwar KRA offices, office chairs, gypsum boards, and a photocopier are among the listed items.

Western Kenya will also host an auction, with Kisumu Town serving as the key location. The KRA warehouse within Victoria Business Park will showcase used tyres, assorted iron furniture, motor vehicle parts, scrap metal, wooden workstations, and metallic cabinets.

In the South Rift region, Nakuru Town will host an auction at Timbercraft (East Africa) Ltd godowns in the Industrial Area. Among the items listed for sale are aluminium-framed doors, aluminium tubes, assorted lighting fixtures, metallic cabinets, curtain blinds, and used car parts.

The Central region’s auction will be held in Nyeri Town at the KRA Warehouse within Veka Plaza. Featured items include a Kyocera printer, broken wooden boards, shelves, a metal box, assorted chairs, tea urns, broken water dispensers, used batteries, and various car parts.

KRA has set strict conditions for the auction. Interested bidders must pay a refundable deposit of Ksh5,000 via a banker’s cheque to obtain a bidding number. Successful bidders will be required to settle the balance within seven days of the auction, failing which their deposit will be forfeited.

The authority also emphasised that all sales will be on an ‘as-is, where-is’ basis, meaning buyers assume full responsibility for the condition of the items. KRA further stated that the auction will adhere to the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act 2015, which mandates that at least 30 per cent of auctioned goods be allocated to women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other disadvantaged groups.

Additionally, a pre-bid session will be held online on March 18, 2025, at 11am to provide further details to interested buyers. Potential bidders can access the auction through the official KRA website or the auctioneer’s website.
