The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) on Thursday, March 13, directed prospective students on how they would obtain their admission letters ahead of the admission day on March 18.
In a statement, KMTC revealed that the process of acquiring these letters was different between new preservice applicants and in-service applicants.
For new applicants, the medical school noted that once the selection process was completed, the Kenya University and College Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) would update the selected students' portal with a message informing them of their selection.
The format of the message will be, "Dear PETER, you have secured a KMTC course for the March 2025 intake, pending approval. Details will be provided at the end of the placement process."
Thereafter, students will receive an SMS notification after a list of qualified applicants is sent to KMTC by KUCCPS for the issuance of admission letters.
"KMTC will issue admission letters based on the list provided by KUCCPS and notify candidates via SMS. Additionally, successful applicants will receive login credentials and a password to download their admission letters and joining instructions," the statement read.
In-service applicants will receive a notification via SMS directly from KMTC. They will also receive login credentials and a password to download their admission letters and joining instructions.
Most notably, all qualified students were notified of unscrupulous individuals trying to defraud successful applicants off their money in exchange for admission letters.
"Successful applicants – Beware of individuals claiming they can help you acquire an admission letter. Once selected by KUCCPS, you do not need any assistance to obtain your letter," the statement added.
Unsuccessful applicants were informed that no one could help them obtain an admission letter if they were not selected by KUCCPS.
Going forward, KMTC also noted that preservice or students fresh from high school would no longer have to apply through the school as all those services had been moved to KUCCPS.
"KMTC no longer handles student placement for preservice courses. This function is now managed by KUCCPS, making them solely responsible for the selection process," the statement concluded.
