The Social Health Authority (SHA) has warned that a payment analysis document making rounds through the internet purporting to list the total payouts made by the authority since its implementation in October is fake.

In a statement on March 15, SHA warned healthcare providers and the larger public that the figures listed in the PDF document were inaccurate.

"The Social Health Authority (SHA) cautions healthcare providers and the public that the payment analysis document linked at is fake and should be ignored," part of the statement read.

The statement further informed healthcare facilities that updates regarding the processing of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) would be communicated directly to them and not through intermediaries.

Therefore, the authority warned the healthcare providers that any activity purporting to be aiding in the same should be reported to the authorities.

"We also want to inform healthcare providers that updates regarding the payment of the pending National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) debt will be communicated directly to them," the statement clarified

"Note that claims payments are made directly to healthcare providers; SHA does not work with intermediaries. If you encounter any suspicious activity, please report it to SHA or the police immediately."

In the viral PDF document, a total of 2,588 legitimate healthcare facilities across the country were listed starting from level 6 facilities like Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) which were reported to have received payments amounting to Ksh379 million and Ksh345 million respectively.

Other notable hospitals on the list were Pumwani Maternity Hospital which reportedly received a Ksh66 million payout, and Thika Level 5 Hospital with a Ksh43 million.

At the bottom of the list were six dispensaries and medical centres that reportedly received a total of Ksh225 each. They include Kyangunga Dispensary in Kitui, Ufalme Medical Centre in Kajiado, and Uruku Dispensary in Nyandarua.

The other three were Wanzua Dispensary in Kitui, Wenje Dispensary in Tana Rive,r and West Kenya Diagnostic and Imaging Centre in Kisumu.

This comes just over a week after President William Ruto announced that the government had resolved to settle all outstanding claims of the health facilities contracted by NHIF whose claims amounted to Ksh10 billion or less.
