Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has declared that no amount of coercion or threats will stop him from speaking his mind.

Speaking during an interview at Sulwe FM on Tuesday, the governor boldly declared that he was aware of the consequences of speaking out, which he alleged included possible killing, but revealed this would not deter him from putting the Kenya Kwanza government in check.

The governor expressed fears that individuals have been sent to intimidate or even harm him following his numerous bold remarks.

"Because I have said I will speak, I know they will send people to come for me, maybe even to kill me. Mr President, I don't care. You can even kill me today; I don't mind. Whether you kill me or not, I will still die, so I will speak," the governor boldly declared.

Natembeya alleged that people have been recruited to 'follow him around', incite residents against him, and create a platform for him to be provoked for not 'singing praises' to President Ruto.

“If I have done any wrong, why not just face me? Following someone around makes it seem like this country has no freedom. It’s as though, if you’re not part of the choir singing praises to the president, you’re automatically deemed bad. I will not accept that,” the governor continued.

The governor has warned that the country is headed in the wrong direction, and what he has been doing is offering feedback, which he says he meant well for the country.

''But if Kenya's governance continues like this, they should know that there will be changes very soon. We are just giving them feedback—if they want to listen, fine; if they don't want to listen, that's their choice. But we mean well, Natmbeya continued.

The governor has been on the front line to criticise the Kenya Kwanza administration, particularly its handling of governance and development in the Western region.

Additionally,  Natembeya has condemned the forced disappearances of the youth, claiming that certain leaders were intolerant of alternative views.

His bold stance has sparked controversy, with leaders in support of the Kenya Kwanza government accusing him of fueling ethnic politics and opposing development.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has even threatened to impeach the governor in the next six months.

''Your negative tribal animosity must come to an end in 6 months to release you into a promoter of tribal rhetoric,'' Cherargei warned in an X post on Tuesday.
