Kenya Met Lists Nairobi And Kiambu Among Regions to Receive Heavy Rains in Next 5 Days

The Kenya Meteorological Department has said that rainfall is expected to continue over a few regions in the country this week

In a statement on Monday, May 12, the weatherman said that the rainfall may, however, decrease in the second half of the week.

"Rainfall is expected to continue over a few regions, most notably the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley," it stated

Residents in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties are expected to receive cloudy intervals breaking into sunny intervals in the morning of Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. However, it is likely to rain over a few places on the morning of Wednesday.

On the afternoon of Tuesday and Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms are expected over a few places, while for the rest of the week, there will be a chance of showers over a few places during this time, according to the weatherman.
 
At night, residents in these counties will experience showers on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, while it is expected to remain partly cloudy on the night of Thursday
 
The maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be  30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be 8 degrees Celsius.

Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta Counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, are expected to receive sunny intervals in the morning through the week, and on the afternoon of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, showers over a few places will be expected.

During the night, residents in the counties will  experience showers in a few places on Tuesday and Wednesday. It will remain partly cloudy for the rest of the week.

According to the weatherman, the maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be  35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be 12 degrees Celsius.
 
Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as Tana River County, on the other hand, are expected to receive showers in the morning and afternoon of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. 

On Friday, the residents will experience sunny intervals both in the morning and afternoon, while on Saturday, the residents will receive sunny intervals in the morning and partly cloudy conditions during the afternoon.

These counties are expected to experience a maximum temperature of 34 degrees and a minimum temperature of  23 degrees.

Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties are expected to receive rains in a few areas in the morning for most of the week, while showers and thunderstorms over a few places during the afternoons.

These counties will further experience showers in a few places throughout the week at night, except on Thursday.
 
The maximum temperatures during this period are expected to be 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperatures will be nine degrees.
 
Turkana and Samburu counties will, for the most part of the week, experience sunny intervals except on the mornings, afternoons, and nights of Tuesday and Wednesday.
 
According to the weatherman, the maximum temperatures in these counties are expected to be 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be eight degrees Celsius.
