Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has demanded the immediate resignation of President William Ruto over alleged incompetence.

Muturi, who spoke on Thursday morning during an interview on Spiece FM, accused the Head of State of persistently lying to Kenyans, adding that he was unfit to hold office.

The former Attorney General, while taking a swipe at the President, claimed that most Kenyans were tired of his style of governance since he had failed to deliver on the promises he made.

"I would advise William Ruto to do the honourable thing, please, Mr President, resign, you are unfit to be in that office, you have become an incorrigible liar," the former CS commented.

"Kenyans know it, from all walks of life. It is very hurtful for citizens to see their president telling lies in broad daylight. It is annoying and I hope he listens," he added.

During the interview, Muturi also faulted Ruto's political allies for misleading the Head of State on the real situation in the country. "Unfortunately, he has decided to surround himself with praise singers, so I don't think he hears," Muturi claimed.

Muturi further urged parliamentarians to invoke their powers under Article 145 and initiate impeachment proceedings against the President over the abduction of Kenyans.

According to the former Attorney General, President Ruto already admitted to having orchestrated the abduction of youthful Kenyans, and his testimony was enough evidence to initiate his impeachment.

He reiterated that Ruto blatantly violated the Constitution by ordering the abduction of Kenyans and later facilitating their return. "Who facilitated their return, and under whose authority? Mr. President, you appear to have this information," the former CS claimed.

Muturi, who previously served in different capacities within Ruto's administration, has been a great critic of the current regime, accusing it of incapacity through constitutional violations.

He was dismissed on March 26 this year under unclear circumstances despite his strong stance over the alleged abduction of Kenyans. Before his dismissal, he criticised the government for reportedly orchestrating actions in the country.

His sentiments come days after he called for accountability among leaders for the promises they make to Kenyans. Speaking on Sunday, May 11, in Kimabu County, Muturi said Kenyans deserve leaders who mean what they say and do what they promise.

"Leaders must be held accountable for the promises they make to the people of Kenya. We cannot normalise dishonesty in public service, leadership must be rooted in truth, not convenience," the former CS maintained.
