Popular TV47 news anchor Shiksha Arora has been cast in an upcoming Netflix movie, Inside Job.
Taking to Instagram to share the news, the journalist revealed that she had been offered an opportunity to audition for a spot in the movie by a casting director in January and secured it.
Reportedly, the movie will premiere on June 14 and will also star popular Kenyan actresses and industry friends Jacky Vike and Eunice Mammito.
"Your girl is going to be on Netflix! In January 2024, I got a call to do something that I had never done: audition for a movie. I got the role and got the opportunity to star in a movie," she stated.
"We are going to be premiering on Netflix in a few days!!! I am officially adding “supporting actress” to my CV. Mark your calendars to watch INSIDE JOB - June 14th 2025."
Directed by Tosh Gitonga, the movie also stars actors Elyas Moshkwani and Irene Kariuki, with its poster bearing the hook, "crime pays... and these girls are broke."
Also known for her social media presence as a content creator and influencer, the news anchor shared several behind-the-scenes snapshots to go with her announcement.
On Instagram and TikTok, Arora is mostly known for her dancing videos, which she does with most individuals she meets both in her personal life and her professional life.
She has made upbeat content with guests she interviews and even her cohosts. One of her pinned videos on Instagram is of her dancing in Times Square, New York, with a popular American weather newsman, Nick Kosir.
However, she is not the first Kenyan journalist to spread her wings into the acting industry, with the popularity they garner in their day jobs aiding in the transition.
NTV's Mariam Bishar was revealed as one of the main cast of MTV Shuga Mashariki in the cast announcement made in March ahead of the show's premiere.
Bishar co-hosts NTV and Nation FM's 'Fixing The Nation' morning show on weekdays alongside other renowned journalists Eric Latiff and Janet Mbugua.
