A form-two student at a national high school was the victim of a fatal accident that saw her run over by the school’s bus.
Reports indicated that the incident occurred when the student was hit by the bus, which was going downhill after experiencing a brake malfunction.
In what was a suspected case of negligence, it is said that the driver failed to properly secure the bus after parking. The bus, with its faulty brakes, is said to have begun going downhill, hitting the student and a couple of others.
Unfortunately, the student was trapped by the bus’s wheel with her skull reportedly crushed, leading to the student's death on the spot.
The accident occurred at another school where the student was part of a group attending a function, alias “funkie.”
Further reports disclosed that the bus’s faulty state had been a point of concern that had been raised a number of times towards the school administration, an issue they allegedly ignored.
The incident that allegedly took place a few days ago generated uproar after stakeholders involved in the matter accused the school of trying to orchestrate a cover-up.
Unconfirmed reports revealed that the students who witnessed the incident were denied psychological medical care, with the school aiming to downplay the situation.
However, in an attempt to seemingly control the matter before it got out of hand, the school, through its chief principal, sent a message to parents acknowledging the student's demise.
In the message, the school expressed its regret over the issue, admitting that the accident claimed the life of the student while injuring three others, who were treated and discharged.
The principal further noted that the school had informed the parents of the affected students, adding that it would release updates on the incident promptly.
The burial date for the student was set for Saturday, June 7, with a requiem mass slated for today at the student’s school.
