Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, will be launched officially within this month.

Deputy party leader Cleophas Malala, on Tuesday, June 3, said the party is seeking an alternative venue and will communicate details in due course.

The party was forced to cancel the launch that had been planned for Tuesday, June 3, at Kasarani Stadium because they were not cleared to use the venue.

“We want to take this opportunity to communicate with our membership. That we have resolved and we are going to relaunch the party within the month, and we are looking for an alternative venue, which will be communicated in due course,” Malala said.

Malala added that the party has established different structures and has resolved to establish the aspirant forum.

“We have established different structures per our constitution. We are going to establish the aspirant forum. We have all the counties of the Republic of Kenya forming an aspirant forum which eventually will culminate in a membership drive.” Malala added.

Malala explained that the event is expected to host approximately 5,000 attendees, including party members, supporters, invited guests, and press members.

However, he added that the party will not permit anyone or any aspirant to open party offices without the approval of the National Executive Council.

Malala stated that party offices will be overseen by the National Secretariat, led by the Secretary General.

“We have also agreed that we will have party offices across the country. In the recent past, after we unveiled our party, we have had several people opening up the offices everywhere.”

“We have decided that the national executive council we are not going to allow anybody or any aspirant to open party offices. Party offices will be regulated by the National Secretariat, headed by the Secretary General,” he said.

The party sought to reserve the facility for a hefty Ksh3.7 million to be used for speeches, performances, and interactive sessions aimed at unveiling the party's vision, manifesto, and leadership to the Kenyan public.
