The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has urged all medical interns to pick up their relevant posting documents from the Ministry of Health.
In a statement on Sunday, July 13, KMPDU directed that all the requisite documentation be collected before the posting period expires.
"As the internship posting period comes to a close, all medical interns are advised to collect all requisite documents from the Ministry of Health (MOH) or relevant departments.
Among these documents are posting or deployment letters, introduction letters to facilities and logbooks or internship guidelines.
They are also expected to pick up any other official correspondence issued during the posting process.
"Timely collection is essential for smooth onboarding and proper documentation. If unsure, follow up with MOH offices or relevant HR departments before reporting to your stations," KMPDU advised.
In a subsequent notice, the union also shared the requirements for course approval, which include an admission letter from an accredited Institution and an application letter for Course Approval duly forwarded.
They also include the Training Bio-Data form, duly completed and signed by the immediate Supervisor (Bio-Data form Revised 2015), minutes recommending the Officer for training, a commitment letter to retain the Officer in the County Payroll and a duly completed Bonding form.
Copies of several documents, including academic and professional certificates, identification card or passport, letter of first appointment, letter of appointment to their current grade and also an indication of the last long course attended.
This reminder comes just a few days after the Health Cabinet Secretary, Aden Duale, revealed that the ministry would be withdrawing and auditing the nursing list of over 2,000 interns after it was revealed that some names may have been added fraudulently.
"This morning I had a meeting with the CEO, and we found out about a number of anomalies of about 19 nurses who have not completed but have been given posting letters," Duale said on Wednesday.
"We are withdrawing and auditing the whole list of nursing, and all the people responsible and the training institutions will have necessary action."
