People's Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has said that she is willing to work with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, but only if he severs his ties with President William Ruto and supports her candidacy for the presidency.

Karua, who spoke during an interview on Ramogi FM, noted that she supported Odinga's candidature for presidency and that it was time for him to return the favour.

While addressing her current relationship with Odinga, Karua said that his decision to work with the current administration had betrayed revolutionary Kenyan youths.

She dismissed Odinga's current bromance with the Head of State, stating that her previous move to support Odinga's presidency was because of the latter's strong political stance.

However, the PLP leader revealed that she lost touch with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader when he decided to work the Kenya Kwanza administration.

"Yes, I am ready to work with him if he severs his ties with Ruto and supports me. I supported him, and it is time for him to support my candidature," said Karua.

She added, "Raila used to be a person with a very firm stance. I admired his firm political stand, but currently he has relaxed a bit and is supporting the current regime, which has orchestrated the injury of many youths."

Electoral Oversight

During the interview, Karua also addressed electoral oversight in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. She disclosed that the opposition would have a parallel tallying centre.

According to Karua, the opposition would not allow the government to compromise the elections, adding that they would be vigilant to curb any form of malice.

She urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and maintain integrity during the next electioneering period, maintaining that it was the only way to remove the current administration from power.

"I let them go on and set the IEBC without our involvement, but we have said that this coming election we will be very vigilant, and I want to state that we, the United Opposition, will have a separate electoral commission," Karua reiterated.

"This coming election, even if Ruto is the chairperson of the Commission, this coming election will not be rigged. Kenyans will be very vigilant," she added.
